Papa Machinery has positioned its Papa P160 automatic energy ball forming machine as a compact, fully automated line for small and mid-sized food manufacturing plants, consolidating mixing, forming, coating and packaging into a single continuous process. The company says the system is intended to help producers move from manual operations to scaled output while maintaining uniform product specifications. According to the manufacturer, the machine targets three priorities common to modern food processing: throughput, batch consistency and hygiene compliance.
All food-contact components of the P160 are constructed from SUS304 stainless steel, a material selected for its corrosion resistance and durability under demanding production conditions. Papa Machinery says the build complies with FDA and CE food-safety certification requirements, a factor that carries weight for processors subject to third-party audits and export regulations.
The company describes the internal structure as smooth-surfaced and free of recessed areas where material could accumulate, a design choice aimed at reducing residue retention between production runs.
The machine is equipped with an integrated PLC control system that allows operators to adjust portion weight and product format. According to the manufacturer, this capability limits raw-material waste and keeps the size and weight of individual energy balls within a narrow tolerance range — a key requirement for retail packaging and nutritional labelling.
Parameter settings can be stored and recalled, enabling processors to switch between product specifications without a full manual recalibration of the line. The company states that this function supports rapid changeovers when multiple energy ball varieties are produced on the same equipment.
Papa Machinery designed the P160 for quick disassembly using standard tools, with the hopper, nozzles and conveyor belt removable for cleaning. Electrical components carry water-protection ratings, and the company advises that cleaning agents meet food-plant standards and that the disassembly sequence in the equipment manual be followed.
Because sanitation cycles account for a significant share of non-productive time in food plants, the reduction in cleaning downtime is presented as a direct contributor to overall line availability.
| Function module | Technical feature | Core value |
|---|---|---|
| Structural material | SUS304 stainless steel | High hygiene standard, corrosion resistance |
| Control system | Intelligent PLC | Precise portioning, reduced material waste |
| Maintenance method | Quick-release design | Shorter downtime, higher line availability |
| Drive system | Energy-efficient motor | Lower operating costs |
For plants focused on cost reduction, Papa Machinery argues that the P160's value extends beyond forming speed to the operating cost per unit produced. The machine pairs a high-efficiency motor with an optimised mechanical transmission, which the company says limits electricity consumption while sustaining output.
The combined effect of controlled portioning, reduced cleaning time and lower energy draw is presented as a production model with a more favourable cost position in a competitive market. Papa Machinery notes that material suitability varies with viscosity and granule size, and recommends small-scale testing before full production to optimise settings.
